ILG SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENT – NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The ILG School Board is pleased to announce that Ms. Rachel MacKinnon has been appointed Executive Director of ILG. Ms MacKinnon, an international school student herself, brings with her over twenty years of experience working in international schools around the world.

Ms. MacKinnon has lived and worked in Albania, Australia, China, England, Germany, Greece, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, The Bahamas, USA, Wales, and Zambia. She holds a Master of Arts in Education Management: International Schools from Oxford Brookes University and a Bachelor of Education with Honours from the University of Plymouth.

Since 1992, Ms. MacKinnon has been involved in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). At this time, it was still the International Schools Curriculum Project (ISCP) which was handed over to the IB in 1997 and became the PYP. Ms MacKinnon has taught in the IB Primary Years Programme and IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and has held the role of IB Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator. Since 2005, Ms MacKinnon has served as a workshop leader, school visitor and consultant in the IB Educator Network.

Ms. MacKinnon also has experience with the Cambridge International, British National and Australian National Curriculums. In some schools, she was responsible for NWEA and InCAS testing. Officially trained as a CIS/WASC/NCCT accreditation team member, she has served as an Accreditation Officer. She is familiar with AdvancED and is a member of the Academy for International School Heads (AISH).

Ms. MacKinnon states, “I am truly honoured and excited to join ILG and I look forward to working with the Board, staff, students, parents and the community to increase access to our ‘internationally accredited institution that offers innovative, technology-based, outstanding education to children of all backgrounds, invests in staff, and acts as an inspiring example for other educational institutions’. I look forward to building on ILG’s strong history and advancing towards its exciting future. “

We are confident that Ms. MacKinnon will be a dedicated and impactful leader of ILG. Her extensive experience, coupled with her warm and vibrant personality, will serve the school community as she leads us into a new chapter of growth and continued success.

Ms MacKinnon, her husband, Steve, and their son, Brodie, will move to Kosovo in early January 2019.
