"Gift of Giving" Project
Dear Parents,
 
The second graders are learning about supporting others through a project "Gift Of Giving". This project involves having children prepare a gift box that they will donate to the SOS village.
 
The project is designed to help teach children about how they, with their donation, can support other children that are going through vulnerable situations. Since it is December the end of 2018, it is the best time of year to not only donate a gift box, but also to provide a moment of happiness for those children.
 
The second graders will take a trip to the SOS village to meet the children. Upon arrival, they will be welcomed by the SOS children with a short program that includes a performance, singing, and group activities. In return, ILG students will perform as well. Second graders will visit the SOS village on the 14th of December. 
The second graders invite all ILG families to donate a shoebox full of joy for less fortunate children.

Practice the "Gift of Giving" by filling a shoebox and reaching out to someone! 

With your help, we can make some children happy with a beautifully decorated shoebox. You can fill one box or more per family. Of course, it's voluntary. 

How can you participate? 

1. Acquire a normal size shoebox with a lid. Cover the lid and box separately with gift wrapping as it still has to be easily opened.

2. Choose the age range you would like to make your purchase for (2-4 years, 5-9 years, 10-14 years).

3. Fill your shoebox with a balanced variety of school supplies, toys, and hygiene products. Include a personal note and a photo if you wish. Do not include items that could break, leak, melt, scare, or harm a child. 

4. Bring it to school before Wednesday, the 12th of December.

How to fill the box? 

* Toys and other gifts: dolls, soccer balls (deflated with pump), stuffed animals, socks, hair clips, toy cars, musical instruments, puzzles, jump ropes, etc. 

* School supplies: pencils, pens, crayons, notebooks, coloring books, etc. 

* Non-liquid hygiene items: toothbrushes, bar soap, washcloths, combs, etc. 

Not allowed in the box are: 

* Sweets or other food.

* Items that dry out quickly: markers, clay, glue etc. 

Please bring your shoebox to school before Wednesday, the 12th of December.
